Is it hard to learn scuba diving?
No, it's easier than you image, and specially easy if you are comfortable in water. PADI Open Water Course includes swimming pool practice, Theory lesson, and Open Water session. This course’s main purpose is familiarize you with scuba diving skills, and teach you some basic knowledge to explore underwater world. After you complete your basic skill and knowledge training, you can move on to the next level.
How long will it take for you to become a certified diver?
PADI course is designed to familiarize you with scuba diving skills. If you can prove that you are familiar and easy to demonstrate the skills, you will be certified. Of course everyone will have different learning pace.
  Different divers will take different amount of time to master the skills. For example, PADI Open Water Course will take 5~6 classes, course time can be as short as 3 days and as long as 6 weeks.
How old do I need to be in order to become a certified diver?
You should be at least 10-year-old to get Jr. OW Diver Certification Card. 10~11-year-old teenager need parents or guardians who are already certified divers or PADI professional diver to dive together. 15-year-old and older, Jr. OW Diver Certification can be upgraded to OW Diver Certification.
Is there any prerequisite for joining a scuba diving course?
No, all healthy people above 10 years old can join the course.
But you have to sign a medical statement to see if any disease that will lead to diving accident. If you have one of them, you need doctor statement to prove you can do scuba diving.
Should I be a good swimmer to get PADI OW Diver Certification?
No, you need only basic swimming skills and not be afraid of water. You need to be able to swim 200M without a break, but with no time limit. Or you need to be able to swim 300M with your mask, snorkel, and fins. You also need to show that you can stay afloat without any floating device for 10 min. (The PADI professional diver will teach you how)
Is Scuba Diving expensive?
No, just like any other hobbies, you can invest in it according to how you own preference. Because most diving centers and resorts have rental equipment, so you can purchase the equipment later and rent the equipment you don't have now. So the cost of equipment can be very flexible and is comparable with skiing and mountain climbing.
What equipment should I prepare before I start the course?
You should check with your instructor for what equipment he will provide. Generally speaking, you need to purchase mask, snorkel, and fins. The local PADI dive center and resort will help you to choose the correct gear. Most scuba gears can use for long time.
What's in the scuba tank? Oxygen?
Recreational Scuba Diver breathes air, not oxygen. It’s the same air we breathe on land that we filter and compress into the scuba tank.
How long can a scuba tank support you under water?
This depends on your breathing behaviou and diving depth, The deeper you go the quicker you will run out air. That's why divers have pressure gauges to tell them how much air left in the tank. But generally speaking, in the depth of 5~10M , calm, warm sea water, one tank can support you for at least 1 hour.
When I swim to the bottom of the swimming pool, I felt the ear pain. Will my ears hurt when I go diving?
Ear pain is due to water pressure pushes on your ear drums. In lessons, we will teach you simple equalization skill to let you ease the pain. Just like you do when you take the a flight.
I always see the sharks or rays running after divers in movie and television, do I need to worry about marine animal attack?
No, you don't need to worry. Most of the marine animals are afraid of human. Some of them will bite or attack divers, but only if you provoke them. Human is not sharks normal food, and they do not attack divers unless they are provoked.
Is Scuba Diving dangerous?
Of course there's certain risk, that's why you need to have a qualified education and get certified.
   
I have eye sight problem, can I go diving?
Yes, you can wear soft contact llenswhen you go
  diving, But if you have hard contact lens, the lens should able to let air pass through . Or you can choose mask with your prescription. You can discuss with your PADI instructor for more details.
 
Scuba Diving sound exciting, but I don't know if this activity is really for me. Can I try it before taking the course?
Yes, under the lead of the professional instructor, they can teach you some simple rules for the scuba gear, underwater breathing method, and underwater movement. They will also teach you some hand signals for communication.
