Fun Diving on Green Island
Green Island is surrounded by coral reefs with varied terrain, from nearshore reef flats, sandy areas and gentle slopes to offshore walls. Every dive offers different scenery as the site and conditions change.
The Kuroshio Current brings warm water and rich marine life, including more than 300 coral species and over 660 fish species.
Underwater mailboxes, Moai statues and other art installations add to Green Island's distinctive dive sites.

A signature north-coast coral reef site, Chaikou has an underwater batfish mailbox where divers can post postcards. It is known for striking stony corals, seagrass, sea urchins, starfish and other marine life.
A popular west-coast shore entry with abundant corals and fish. Its pygmy-seahorse-shaped underwater mailbox sits at 11.5 meters and accepts Green Island limited-edition postcards.
Sand and reef meet here, making it a good place to slow down and look for bottom-dwelling animals.

Offshore reef walls and schools of fish create an expansive seascape.
The "Big Mushroom" coral stands to the right of the Shilang snorkeling area in Nanliao Bay. At about 13 meters high and 11 meters in circumference, it is considered the world's largest individual living coral and is estimated to be around 1,200 years old.
The southern reef supports diverse marine life, with occasional sea turtle sightings.
Caves, rock walls and light from the surface create a dramatic underwater landscape.
White sand and coral gardens meet at the island's southwest end. Damselfish and butterflyfish are often seen among stony, tube and mushroom corals. Depth and current conditions vary significantly, making this site best suited to experienced divers.
This three-tier steel artificial reef lies at depths of approximately 21 to 31 meters. Batfish, sweetlips, lionfish, sea fans and diverse corals can all be seen here.
At this isolated reef outside Gongguan Harbor, depths reach 50 meters. Looking up through the narrow passage reveals a ribbon of sky between the walls. Currents are strong year-round, so dives should be led by an instructor familiar with local conditions.
A vertical fault forms a dramatic canyon. Large sea fans and schools of fish gather around the corner ledge, and larger fish may occasionally pass through the deep blue water beyond.
At around 12 meters deep, this site is known for its high concentration of clownfish. It is also well suited to Advanced Open Water divers practicing underwater navigation and neutral buoyancy.
The northern reef flat is covered with soft and hard corals and is home to blue tangs, butterflyfish and other tropical fish. It feels like stepping into a real-life Finding Nemo scene.
This irregular offshore reef near Youzihu begins at around 20 meters and drops to a maximum depth of 60 meters. An L-shaped natural cave lies below 20 meters, where currents can be strong.
